Professional Development Trainer | Center for Teacher Effectiveness | Handshake

For San Francisco educators, and for those down the Peninsula in Daly City, South San Francisco, and San Mateo, this is a chance to train other teachers.

Professional development trainers present a day of classroom management training to a K-12 staff, at the school or virtually, and leave teachers with strategies they can use. Most of our trainers still work in schools, training on weekends, evenings, personal days, and summers. We don't assign territories, so in-person work near San Francisco and virtual work anywhere are both possible.

The approach you'd teach has reached more than 400,000 educators in all 50 states since 1993. The role suits current and former K-12 teachers, coaches, counselors, and principals, plus other educators. Candidates with a bachelor's degree are preferred.

You'll start with the virtual Weekend Certification, which covers Content Mastery and then High-Impact Facilitation in 36 hours over three days. You can also put the certification toward 4 graduate credits through UMass Global. Tuition applies, and there are sponsorship and pay-over-time options. We also welcome students who plan to complete certification.

We provide orientation, the training materials you'll present, and support that keeps going after certification. Most of your bookings will come from schools you connect with, using an outreach approach certification teaches. Your National Director writes the contracts and handles negotiation. Hours are not guaranteed in this 1099 independent contractor role, and the number of trainings varies. Typical training days pay $1,000 or more, paid out every Friday.
