Sales Associate (120 hours) – Sneaker Factory Randburg

This role puts you at the heart of a leading South African retailer where your natural enthusiasm becomes your greatest asset. You'll learn real retail fundamentals—how to read customers, build product knowledge, and close sales—all while working with a brand you actually care about. The Foschini Group is known for developing young talent, so this 120-hour contract is your chance to prove yourself and potentially move into permanent positions. You'll gain exposure to stock management, point-of-sale systems, and the daily operations of a busy retail centre. For someone aged 18–30, this experience on your CV opens doors across the entire retail sector and builds confidence you'll carry into your next role. After this contract, you could progress into a permanent Sales Associate role, then shift supervisor, and eventually store management within The Foschini Group or competitors. Many retail leaders in South Africa started exactly where you'd be. Within 1–2 years, skilled associates often move into merchandising or visual display roles. The group also values internal promotion into assistant manager positions. If you're interested in formalising your skills, consider NQF Level 3 in Retail or a customer service qualification through Retail Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA). Some team members transition into buying, logistics, or head office roles after proving themselves on the floor. Tailor your CV to highlight any customer-facing experience—even informal work counts. Keep your CV to one page and lead with 'Sales' or 'Customer Service' skills. If you've done any work-integrated learning (WIL), learnership, or volunteer work, mention it clearly. A Z83 form isn't required for this contract role unless the company specifically asks. If you lack formal retail experience, describe how you've impressed people with your style sense or helped friends choose products. Include references who can vouch for your reliability and enthusiasm, even if they're teachers, community leaders, or informal employers. Common mistake: applying with a generic CV that doesn't mention sneakers or fashion—show you actually care about the brand. Keep your application letter warm and genuine; Foschini Group values personality and energy. Join The Foschini Group as a Sales Associate in our Sneaker Factory store and become the face of our brand. You'll deliver outstanding customer service, showcase your style expertise, and create excitement around our products. This is a 120-hour maternity cover position offering real retail experience in a fast-paced environment.
