AML / KYB Analyst

Compliance Analyst

Zyphe is a Compliance-as-a-Service company building the last compliance hire a regulated business will ever need. We combine AI agents with experienced human analysts to run the full compliance lifecycle for our clients: KYC, KYB, AML screening, transaction monitoring, fraud prevention and SAR preparation.

Our clients are fintechs, banks, investment platforms, crypto firms and professional services companies across Europe, the UK and the US. They can deploy our agents on top of their existing KYC and screening tools, or run the full Zyphe stack end to end. Either way, the goal is the same: faster onboarding, fewer false positives, better documented decisions and a compliance function that scales without scaling headcount at the same rate.

We're a small, senior team based across Milan, New York and London. Our founders and advisors come from identity, fintech and financial-crime backgrounds, including senior compliance leadership at a major European neobank. We move fast, we ship weekly, and we care a lot about getting the details right, because in compliance the details are the job.

Why this role exists

AI agents are very good at the repetitive 80% of compliance work: collecting documents, pulling register data, running screening, drafting case summaries. The remaining 20% is where judgment lives, and that is where regulators look.

We're hiring analysts who have done this work by hand and know exactly where it breaks. You'll be the human in the loop on real client portfolios, and at the same time one of the people teaching our agents how an experienced analyst thinks. Every edge case you resolve, every false positive you explain and every piece of feedback you give makes the product better for every client.

This is not a queue-processing role. It's a chance to shape how compliance work will be done over the next decade.

What you'll do

  • Case review and decisioning
  • You'll review KYC and KYB files prepared by our agents and make the final call on approvals, rejections and escalations. You'll analyse corporate structures, reconstruct ownership chains and confirm ultimate beneficial owners using official registers and supporting documents. You'll assess risk ratings and challenge them when the evidence doesn't support the outcome.
  • Screening and investigations
  • You'll triage sanctions, PEP and adverse-media alerts, discount false positives with clear rationale and escalate true matches. You'll conduct enhanced due diligence on higher-risk customers, including source of funds and source of wealth assessments. You'll support investigations into unusual activity and help draft SARs for client review.
  • Ongoing monitoring
  • You'll handle periodic reviews and trigger-event reviews across client portfolios, and review transaction monitoring alerts where clients use that part of our service.
  • Quality and documentation
  • Every decision you make needs to stand up to an audit. You'll write concise, well-reasoned case notes, maintain audit trails and help define our internal QA standards and case-handling procedures.
  • Product and agent training
  • You'll work directly with our CTO and product team to define how the agents should reason, what they should flag and what a "good" file looks like. You'll spot recurring failure patterns and turn them into concrete product improvements. You'll test new features before they reach clients and help write the playbooks our agents follow.
  • Client contact
  • Where needed, you'll join calls with client compliance teams and MLROs to walk through complex cases, explain decisions and gather feedback.

What we're looking for

Must have

  • 2 to 5 years of experience in AML, KYC/KYB, customer onboarding or FinCrime operations at a bank, fintech, EMI, payment institution, crypto firm, investment firm or advisory/consultancy.
  • Solid working knowledge of the UK Money Laundering Regulations, JMLSG guidance and FCA expectations on customer due diligence.
  • Hands-on experience reviewing complex corporate customers, including multi-layered and cross-border ownership structures.
  • Experience handling sanctions, PEP and adverse-media screening alerts.
  • Strong written English and the ability to explain a decision clearly and briefly.
  • Good judgment under ambiguity: you know when a case is clear, when it needs more information and when it needs escalating.
  • Genuine curiosity about AI and automation, and the confidence to tell us plainly when our product gets something wrong.
  • Right to work in the UK.

Nice to have

  • Exposure to EU AML frameworks (AMLD, AMLR) or US BSA/AML requirements.
  • Experience with Companies House, OpenCorporates, national business registers or commercial data providers.
  • Familiarity with screening and verification tools such as World-Check, ComplyAdvantage, Dow Jones, LexisNexis or similar.
  • Experience with crypto, payments or investment-platform clients.
  • Experience drafting SARs or supporting an MLRO function.
  • Involvement in process-improvement, automation or tool-implementation projects.
  • ICA certificate or diploma, ACAMS (CAMS) or an equivalent qualification.
  • Additional European languages.

Your first 90 days

First 30 days: Learn the Zyphe platform, our agent workflows and our clients' risk appetites. Shadow live case reviews and start signing off on standard KYC and KYB files.

By 60 days: Own a client portfolio's review queue, handle escalations independently and deliver your first round of structured feedback on agent behaviour to the product team.

By 90 days: Contribute to our QA framework and case-handling playbooks, lead feedback sessions on at least one product area, and be a trusted point of contact for client compliance teams.

Who you'll work with

You'll report to the founding team and work day to day with Manuel (CTO) and our product and engineering team, alongside Hendrik (Co-Founder & CRO) on client-facing work. You'll be one of the first compliance hires in London, with real influence over how the function grows.

What we offer

  • Competitive salary: £45,000 to £60,000, depending on experience.
  • Meaningful equity through our stock option plan.
  • Hybrid working in London, with flexibility on where and when you work.
  • Direct access to the founding team and a genuine voice in product decisions.
  • Budget for professional development and certifications (ICA, ACAMS or similar).
  • The chance to build and shape a new category of compliance work, not just process it.

How we hire

We keep the process short, practical and transparent.

1. Application. Submit your CV through this page, plus a short answer (max 150 words) to this question: "What's the most time-consuming part of your current compliance workflow, and how would you fix it?"

2. Intro call with Manuel, our CTO (30 minutes). A conversation about how you work today: your tools, your workflows and what slows you down. We want to understand how you think, not test you on definitions.

3. Hands-on with the platform. You'll get free access to Zyphe to run a few cases and share your honest feedback. How you assess the product and the cases is part of the evaluation, and the access is yours to keep using whatever the outcome.

4. Second round with Hendrik, our Co-Founder & CRO (45 minutes). A deeper conversation about your experience, the role and how you'd work with clients.

5. Offer. We aim to complete the full process within two to three weeks.
