Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Freelance Storyboard Artist to collaborate on an episodic project. This role requires a professional who has an excellent knowledge of traditional cinematic storytelling as well as cutting-edge 3D production workflows. You will develop dynamic, narrative-driven storyboards that serve as the blueprint for an animation pipeline heavily reliant on real-time 3D technology (Unreal Engine).

Key Responsibilitie

  • Create clear, expressive, and cinematically compelling storyboard panels based on
  • scripts, outlines, and director notes.
  • Establish strong composition, staging, camera angles, pacing, and character
  • performance within an episodic structure.
  • Incorporate 3D assets, environments, and basic camera block-ins to ensure storyboards
  • translate accurately into a real-time 3D pipeline.
  • Collaborate closely with the director, previsualization teams, and Unreal Engine artists to
  • optimize layout and continuity.
  • Incorporate feedback and deliver clean, organized project files under tight episodic deadlines.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Proven track record as a Storyboard Artist with extensive experience in
  • episodic storytelling (animation, VFX, or cinematic gaming).
  • 3D Workflow Integration: Deep understanding of how traditional boarding translates
  • into 3D environments. Direct experience working alongside teams using Unreal Engine
  • or similar real-time previsualization tools is essential.
  • Cinematic Skillset: Mastery of cinematography principles, camera movement,
  • composition, aspect ratios, and visual pacing.
  • Technical Proficiency: Mastery of standard boarding software (e.g., Storyboard Pro,
  • Photoshop) alongside familiarity with 3D space/blocking tools.
  • Professionalism: Strong communication skills, a highly collaborative mindset, and the
  • ability to work independently as a freelancer.

Submission Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years of professional experience in animation, games, virtual production,
  • VFX, or related visual media.
  • At least 3 years in a senior-level role involving artistic leadership, visual development, or cinematic direction.
  • Resume (must include start/end dates of each engagement listed)
  • Please provide a link to your reel. Samples must demonstrate high-level cinematic
  • staging, continuity, and clear examples of work created for or adapted to a 3D animation pipeline.
