Senior Accountant (Contract – 1 Year)

Location: Remote (Must be able to attend occasional meetings in Washington, DC as needed)

Duration: 1-Year Contract

Pay: $35–40/hour

We are partnering with a mission-driven organization seeking a Senior Accountant with Non-Profit industry experience for a year long contract.

PLEASE NOTE in additional to strong technical accounting experience, this positions requires someone to have exposure to HR, understand of FMLA

Must-Have

  • 3+ years of Senior Accountant experience
  • Nonprofit accounting experience (MUST
  • Restricted Fund Management: Track and report on restricted, unrestricted, and board-designated funds.
  • HR Exposure -Benefits Understanding of FMLA, FLSA***
  • Multiple Entity Management: Support separate accounting for both 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) entities, including consolidated reporting.
  • General Ledger Management/Experience
  • Cost Allocations: Allocate shared costs across entities, programs, grants, and departments.
Responsibiliti es Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end financial reports
  • Manage restricted funds and ensure compliance with grant and funding requirement
  • Support audit preparation and financial reporting
  • Process payroll entries, fixed asset activity, and accounts payable transactions
  • Develop and improve accounting processes and standard operating procedures
  • Partner with finance, HR, and program teams on special projects and report
  • Assist with compliance, internal controls, and documentat ion
